Siddaramaiah Says No Holiday Tomorrow
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated on Sunday that the Karnataka government would not declare a public holiday on January 22. This decision comes despite mounting pressure from BJP and Janata Dal (Secular) leaders urging the government to announce a holiday in honor of the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Addressing media queries in Tumakuru, Siddaramaiah clarified that there would be no official holiday. However, he mentioned that the Muzrai department would conduct special rituals at all state-run temples during the Ram Mandir consecration event in Ayodhya. He also highlighted his own participation in the inauguration of a new Ram Temple in Mahadevapura constituency, Bengaluru, scheduled for the following day.
Earlier, Leader of the Opposition R Ashok had written to Siddaramaiah, requesting the government to declare a holiday on Monday. JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy shared a similar viewpoint, advocating for the announcement of a public holiday in connection with the Ram Mandir consecration.
